Privacy policy

CartGenie is a Chrome extension published by 5StepLabs (“we”). It shows the effective price of every instant discount and each bank's cheapest EMI plan on the Flipkart product page you are on, with coupons, SuperCoins, interest, GST and fees added up and the ones on your cards marked. This policy explains what the extension and this website collect, why, how long it is kept, and your choices. The short version: the extension sends our service links to Flipkart product pages that you open, with the offers, prices and EMI plans Flipkart shows you on them, and nothing else about you.
What we collect
- Links to Flipkart product pages that you open. The extension sends these links and nothing else from your browsing. They are used only to show you the offers for those products.
- The offers and prices Flipkart shows you for that product. The extension reads the product details, bank offers and EMI plans Flipkart shows for it and sends them to our service for calculating the final effective price per offer. It sends nothing else about you: not your name, address, cart, orders or saved cards, and never your Flipkart password or session.
- A random install identifier. Created when the extension is installed, it lets our service apply fair-use limits and stop abuse. It is not linked to your name, email or any account, and we cannot connect it to you.
- A verification token. During setup you complete a human check (Cloudflare Turnstile) on this website. The token it produces lets the extension talk to our service for a limited period and is renewed the same way. It identifies the install, not you.
- Fair-use records. To apply those limits and prevent abuse, our service counts each install’s lookups, and the products they were for, per day. These records carry only the random install identifier, so they cannot be tied back to you, and they are deleted within 2 months.
- Connection data. CartGenie uses Cloudflare as its network provider. Cloudflare sees your IP address and basic browser details so it can deliver each request and block abuse. CartGenie never stores or logs your IP address.
What stays in your browser
The bank cards you pick and the extension settings are stored in the extension’s own storage on your computer. They are never sent to us. CartGenie never asks for a card number.
Delivery pincode. If you have set a delivery pincode on Flipkart, the extension uses it only to get the offers Flipkart shows for your location. This happens locally in your own browser and is never sent to CartGenie’s servers.
What we don’t collect
No names, no email addresses, no accounts, no passwords, no payment details, no card numbers, no purchase or order history, nothing on the page beyond the product’s details, offers and prices, no cookies for tracking, and no fingerprinting of your browser. We do not sell data, do not share it for advertising, and do not use it to assess creditworthiness or for lending.
CartGenie’s use of the information it receives complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Where the numbers come from
CartGenie works from what Flipkart and the banks show you for the product you are viewing: the listed price, the bank offers and the EMI plans. It does arithmetic on them. It never signs in for you, buys anything, applies an offer or changes anything in your account. Offers, prices and terms are set by Flipkart and the banks, can change at any time, and may be applied differently at checkout; the amount you finally pay is decided by Flipkart and your bank. CartGenie’s figures are for your information only and are not financial advice.
How long we keep things
Fair-use records, product offer information and server logs are deleted within 2 months. Product offer information holds nothing about you or your install. Error reports are sampled; they name the product page that failed, what went wrong and the browser version, and carry no IP address and nothing about you. Nothing we keep about a lookup can be tied back to you.
Service providers
Our service runs on a cloud hosting provider in India and is protected by Cloudflare, which also provides the human check on this website. We use an error-monitoring service. These providers process data on our behalf, under their own privacy terms, and receive no more than is described above. This website sets no cookies of its own; the human check may set one of Cloudflare’s, subject to Cloudflare’s policy.
Your choices and your rights
CartGenie acts only on flipkart.com product pages. Pause it from the panel’s menu and it shows nothing and sends nothing until you switch it back on. Uninstalling it deletes everything stored in your browser and stops all collection immediately; the fair-use records tied to that install expire on their own within 2 months. For any question, request or complaint about your data, email 5steplabs@gmail.com and we will respond promptly. If you are under 18, please use CartGenie only with a parent or guardian’s consent.
Independence
CartGenie is an independent product of 5StepLabs. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Flipkart or any bank. Flipkart and the bank names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to identify the store and the cards an offer relates to. If you represent a store or a bank and have a concern about how your information appears in CartGenie, write to 5steplabs@gmail.com and we will respond promptly.
Changes
If what the extension collects ever changes, we will update this policy and the extension’s store listing before shipping the change.
This policy is governed by the laws of India. Using CartGenie is also subject to our Terms of use.
